Arthur Fiedler (December 17, 1894 – July 10, 1979) The" King of the Pops"was a long-time conductor of the Boston Pops Orchestra, a symphony orchestra that specializes in popular and light classical music. With a combination of musicianship and showmanship, he made the Boston Pops one of the best-known orchestras in the country. Some people[who?] criticized him for over-popularizing music, particularly when adapting popular songs or edited portions of the classical repertoire, but Fiedler kept performances informal and sometimes self-mocking to attract more customers.

5 PM ET Joe Girard Now a regular feature of the Pops Concert Channel with his long running NPR special program "Inside Great America Music". This week Tony Bennett Part # 1 Remember every Saturday 5 PM ET.

The timeless tunes of George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Rogers & Hart, Rodgers & Hammerstein and more -- as made famous by Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Vic Damone, Perry Como, Andy Williams and other legendary stars will be heard every Saturday at 5 PM on the Pops Concert Channel.

In the early 60’s, popular music was changing and Joe decided to pursue a career in broadcasting and entertainment. Today, as President of JEMI Enterprises, Inc., he consults for entertainment companies but continues his singing career performing all across the country.
